Station 1 BBQ is a family-run labor of love born from a passion for authentic Southern flavors and a lifetime of service in the fire community.
Our founder, Russ, spent years as a career firefighter in the Southern US—serving everywhere from intense city fires to the frontlines of wildland firefighting and Hurricane Rita relief efforts. After a dedicated career of supporting his crews, Russ returned home to Vancouver Island to trade his fire gear for the pit, sharing the soulful, smoky traditions of the South with the Esquimalt community and beyond.
What started as a family project crafting signature barbecue spices has grown into a full-scale, mobile smoked meat business. When you eat with us, you’re part of the Station 1 family.
